How do you use Micro Goals?

Micro Goals in Propel Your Business #

Micro Goals are short-term, focused goals designed for individuals. They break larger objectives into smaller, manageable targets that can be tracked over shorter periods of time.

Example: Weekly Target #

For instance, here I have a goal of clients generated.

  • Timeframe: One week
  • Target: Five clients generated

Unlike Company Goals or Macro Plans (which measure month-over-month performance), Micro Goals let you zoom in on shorter timeframes—like weeks or even days—so you can track immediate progress.

Benefits of Micro Goals #

  • Bite-sized focus – Helps individuals stay accountable without being overwhelmed by annual or monthly targets.
  • Flexible timeframes – Can be set for a week, two weeks, or any short duration.
  • Clear measurement – Ensures small wins are tracked and celebrated.

Linking to the Macro Plan #

Micro Goals can be linked to a Macro Plan, but don’t have to be.

  • Example: My one-week “clients generated” goal is linked to the broader Macro Plan goal of “clients generated” for the sales organization.
  • This ensures that short-term progress aligns with the team’s long-term targets.

When to Use Micro Goals #

  • To keep individuals motivated with short-term wins.
  • To break down larger Macro or Company Goals into smaller action steps.
  • To adapt quickly when priorities shift within a team or department.
