Troubleshooting Import & Paste Errors in Propel Your Business Dashboards #
If you see errors when importing or pasting data into your Company Goals or Macro Plan dashboards, it usually comes down to one of two issues:
1. Symbols in Your Data #
- When you copy to clipboard or export to Excel, all formatting (dollar signs, commas, percentages, etc.) is automatically stripped out.
- If you reinsert symbols while editing (e.g.,
$,,,%), your data will not import correctly.- Possible outcomes:
- The system rejects the numbers.
- Or it cuts off values at the comma (e.g., “1,200” may import as “1”).
- Possible outcomes:
- ✅ Fix: Enter only raw numbers with no formatting.
2. Incomplete Copy of the Dashboard #
- To successfully re-import, you must copy the entire dashboard:
- Include the headers at the top.
- Include all rows—even if you didn’t update every one.
- If any rows or headers are missing, the import will be rejected.
- ✅ Fix: Always copy from the header row all the way down to the last row before importing.
Quick Checklist Before Importing #
✔ Remove $, commas, %, or any extra symbols.
✔ Include every row and column header in your selection.
✔ Double-check that you’re pasting or importing the entire dataset.
