Tasks Overview

Understanding the Task Module #

The Task module is a central workspace for managing action items across Propel. It provides a single location to view, assign, track, and complete tasks throughout the platform.

Accessing the Task Module #

Select Tasks from the left-hand navigation menu.

The Task dashboard displays all tasks that:

  • You have created
  • Have been assigned to you
  • Are visible based on your user permissions

If you are a Company Admin, you will see tasks across the entire organization. Using filters can help narrow the view to specific individuals, meetings, or task statuses.

Task Dashboard Overview #

At the top of the dashboard, you’ll find a summary of all open tasks, including:

  • In Progress
  • Not Started
  • Overdue

This provides a quick snapshot of current activity and outstanding work.

You can also create new tasks directly from the Task dashboard.

Where Tasks Are Used in Propel #

Tasks can exist in multiple areas of the platform.

Within Meetings #

Tasks have their own section within meeting agendas and are commonly used to assign follow-up actions during discussions.

Within Initiatives #

Tasks can also be linked directly to roadmap items inside an initiative.

This allows larger projects to be broken down into specific actions assigned to individual team members.

Task Notifications #

Whenever a task is assigned to someone, that individual receives an in-app notification.

Notifications help ensure team members are aware of new responsibilities and upcoming due dates.

Creating a Task #

When creating a task, you can define:

Task Name #

A clear title describing the action that needs to be completed.

Notes #

Additional details, instructions, or context related to the task.

Meeting Series #

Optionally pin the task to a meeting series.

Roadmap Item #

Optionally link the task to a roadmap item within an initiative.

Note: Linking a task to a meeting series or roadmap item is optional.

Assigned To #

Every task must be assigned to a user.

You may assign the task to yourself or another team member.

Due Date #

Set a target completion date for the task.

Link or URL #

Include a website, document, file, or other resource that will help complete the task.

Best Practices #

For the best results:

  • Assign every task to a specific owner.
  • Include clear notes and expectations.
  • Set realistic due dates.
  • Link tasks to roadmap items whenever they support a larger initiative.
  • Review tasks regularly during meetings to maintain accountability.

Tasks are most effective when they represent specific actions that can be completed, tracked, and reviewed over time.
