Filtering Intiatives

Initiative Dashboard Filters in Propel #

Inside the Propel Initiatives module, the Initiative Dashboard includes a series of filters designed to help users quickly locate and organize initiatives.

These filters are especially valuable for:

  • Company Admins
  • leadership teams
  • project managers
  • and organizations managing a large number of initiatives.

Why Filters Matter #

Company Admins can view:

  • all initiatives across the organization

…regardless of:

  • ownership
  • or sharing permissions.

As organizations grow, filters help users:

  • reduce dashboard clutter
  • quickly locate priorities
  • organize planning work
  • and review progress across departments or teams.

Available Initiative Filters #

Initiative Name #

Users can search for:

  • a specific initiative by name

This is useful when:

  • looking for a particular project
  • locating strategic priorities
  • or reopening archived work.

Owner Filter #

The Owner filter allows users to search initiatives based on:

  • the initiative owner

This is commonly used to:

  • review workload by leader
  • manage accountability
  • or evaluate departmental execution.

Shared With Filter #

Users can also search initiatives by:

  • who the initiative is shared with

This helps identify:

  • collaborative projects
  • cross-functional work
  • or initiatives involving specific team members.

Active vs Archived Initiatives #

By default, the dashboard displays:

  • active initiatives only.

However, users can also filter for:

  • archived initiatives
  • or completed initiatives.

Archiving initiatives helps:

  • keep dashboards clean
  • reduce visual clutter
  • preserve historical records
  • and maintain focus on current priorities.

This is especially useful during:

  • quarterly planning
  • annual planning
  • or strategic reviews.

Tag Filtering #

Tags are:

  • customizable
  • color-coded
  • organizational labels.

Organizations use tags to categorize initiatives by:

  • department
  • strategic priority
  • quarter
  • initiative type
  • leadership owner
  • or operational area.

Example:

  • “Financials”
  • “Sales”
  • “Operations”
  • “People”
  • “Q1 Priorities”

Tag filtering allows users to instantly group related initiatives together.

End Date Filtering #

The dashboard also allows filtering by:

  • initiative end date
  • or date range.

This is useful for:

  • identifying upcoming deadlines
  • reviewing quarterly priorities
  • planning future workload
  • or checking what initiatives are due during a specific timeframe.

Example use cases:

or projects closing this month.

initiatives due next quarter

overdue initiatives
