Archiving Initiatives in Propel #
Inside Propel, initiatives can be archived once all roadmap items and related work have been completed.
Archiving helps organizations:
- keep dashboards clean
- stay focused on active priorities
- reduce clutter
- while still preserving historical work and records.
When to Archive an Initiative #
An initiative is typically archived when:
- all roadmap items are complete
- the project has been finalized
- execution work has ended
- or the initiative is no longer active.
Rather than deleting completed work, Propel uses archiving so organizations can:
- maintain historical visibility
- reference prior projects
- review completed execution
- and restore initiatives later if needed.
How to Archive an Initiative #
To archive an initiative:
- Go to the Initiative Dashboard
- Find the initiative
- Click the three dots on the right-hand side
- Select Archive
Once archived:
- the initiative is removed from the active dashboard view.
This helps teams stay focused on:
- current work
- active priorities
- and in-progress execution.
Viewing Archived Initiatives #
Archived initiatives are still accessible through filters.
Using the Initiative Dashboard filters:
- select Archived
This displays:
- completed initiatives
- historical projects
- and previously archived work.
This is especially useful for:
- annual reviews
- strategic planning
- historical reference
- or revisiting previous initiatives.
Restoring an Archived Initiative #
Archived initiatives can be restored at any time.
To restore:
- Filter to Archived initiatives
- Find the initiative
- Click the three dots
- Select Restore
The initiative will then return to the active dashboard.
Why Propel Uses Archive Instead of Delete #
Deleting initiatives is intentionally not available inside Propel.
This protects organizations from:
- accidental deletion
- losing strategic history
- removing roadmap progress
- or eliminating accountability records.
Archiving functions similarly to deleting from the main view while still preserving:
- initiative history
- roadmap items
- activity
- communication
- and execution records.
