Why Can’t I Update Actuals On A Goal I Own?

Why You Can’t Edit Actuals on a Goal #

If you’re unable to manually update the actual values on a goal—even when you are the owner—there’s a clear reason inside Propel Your Business.

Root Cause #

Your goal is synced with QuickBooks.

When a goal is connected to QuickBooks:

  • Actuals are automatically pulled
  • Manual editing of actuals is disabled

How to Confirm #

You are likely experiencing this if:

  • You see yourself listed as the owner
  • You still cannot edit actuals
  • The goal shows a QuickBooks connection

Why This Happens #

This is intentional behavior:

When QuickBooks is the source of truth, Propel prevents manual edits to avoid data inconsistencies.

Your Options #

Option 1: Resync Data (Recommended) #

  • Click the three dots next to the goal
  • Select Resync
  • Pull the latest financial data from QuickBooks

Option 2: Disconnect from QuickBooks #

If you need manual control:

  1. Click the three dots
  2. Select Edit
  3. Choose Disconnect from QuickBooks

After disconnecting:

  • You can manually enter actuals
  • The goal will no longer auto-update
