Linking Tasks to Roadmap Items #
Linking tasks to roadmap items helps connect day-to-day actions to larger projects and initiatives. This creates greater visibility, accountability, and progress tracking across the organization.
There are multiple ways to link a task to a roadmap item in Propel.
Linking a Task from a Roadmap Item #
Whether you’re working in the Initiatives module or inside a meeting, you can link tasks directly to a roadmap item.
To Link a Task: #
- Locate the roadmap item you want to update.
- Open the roadmap item.
- In the collaboration panel, select Tasks.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Select an existing task.
- Create a new task.
Once linked, the task becomes associated with that roadmap item and contributes to the completion of the larger project.
Creating a New Task from a Roadmap Item #
When creating a task directly from a roadmap item, the connection is automatically established.
You can:
- Enter a task name.
- Add notes or instructions.
- Assign the task to a user.
- Set a due date.
- Add supporting links or resources.
- Optionally pin the task to a meeting series.
When the task is assigned, the assigned individual will receive an in-app notification.
Pinning Linked Tasks to Meetings #
When creating or linking a task, you can also associate it with a meeting series.
This allows the task to appear within the Tasks section of the meeting agenda, making it easier to review progress and maintain accountability during recurring meetings.
A single task can be:
- Linked to a roadmap item.
- Pinned to a meeting series.
- Assigned to a specific individual.
This creates a clear connection between strategic priorities, meeting discussions, and day-to-day execution.
Linking Tasks from Meetings #
Tasks can also be linked to roadmap items while working inside a meeting.
To Link a Task During a Meeting: #
- Open the meeting series.
- Navigate to the Initiatives section of the agenda.
- Select the roadmap item.
- Open the collaboration panel.
- Choose Add Task.
- Select an existing task or create a new one.
The task will immediately become associated with the selected roadmap item.
Best Practices #
For the best results:
- Link tasks to roadmap items whenever the task supports a larger project.
- Assign each task to a specific owner.
- Use meeting series connections to drive accountability.
- Break large roadmap items into smaller, actionable tasks.
- Review linked tasks regularly during meetings.
By connecting tasks, roadmap items, and meetings together, teams can maintain visibility from strategic priorities all the way down to daily execution.
