Inviting a Company to Join Your Firm’s Platform #
Firm Admins can invite companies to join their firm’s Propel platform. Once the invitation is accepted, the company is connected to your portfolio, allowing your advisors to collaborate with the business through Propel.
There are two ways to invite a company, depending on your workflow.
Method 1: Invite a Company from Firm Settings #
- Navigate to Firm Settings.
- Select Companies.
- Click Invite Company in the upper-right corner.
- Enter the following information:
- Business owner’s email address
- First name
- Last name
- Company name
- Click Send Invite.
An invitation email will be sent to the business owner asking them to create and activate their company instance.
What the Business Owner Receives #
The invitation email is sent from Propel and includes:
- Your name
- Your firm’s name
- The business owner’s name
- A Set Up Company button to begin the onboarding process
The invitation remains valid for 30 days.
Company Setup Experience #
When the business owner selects Set Up Company, they are guided through the company setup process.
During setup, Propel automatically associates the new company with your firm.
Enterprise Platforms #
For Enterprise platforms:
- The company setup displays $0 during checkout.
- Your firm is responsible for billing the client outside of Propel.
- The company is automatically connected to your firm’s portfolio.
Branded Platforms #
For Branded platforms:
- Propel manages company subscriptions.
- The company will see the current Propel subscription price during setup.
- Monthly and annual billing options may be available.
- Once setup is complete, the company is connected to your firm’s platform.
Connecting the Company to Your Firm #
During setup, the business owner is asked to connect their company to your firm.
If they accept:
- Your firm gains access to the company instance.
- The company appears in your portfolio.
- Advisors can be assigned to the company.
If they choose not to connect their company:
- They complete setup as an independent Propel company.
- They are responsible for their own subscription.
- Your firm will not have access to their company until they later choose to share it.
After the Company Completes Setup #
Once the business owner finishes creating their company:
- The company instance is launched.
- You receive an email notification confirming the invitation was accepted.
- A link is provided to open the new company directly from your portfolio.
Tracking Pending Invitations #
Companies that have been invited but have not yet completed setup appear in the Invited section of your portfolio.
This allows you to:
- Monitor invitation status.
- Follow up with business owners who have not yet completed setup.
- Confirm which invitations are still pending.
Method 2: Invite a Company from the Health & Value Assessment #
If your firm has access to the Health & Value Assessment module, you can also invite companies directly from a pending Health & Value Assessment.
- Create or locate the pending company.
- Open the Health & Value Assessment.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the pending company.
- Select Send Invitation.
This sends the same company setup invitation email to the business owner.
If needed, you can also Resend Invitation from this same menu.
Best Practices #
- Send invitations to the business owner’s primary email address.
- Let the recipient know to expect an email from Propel.
- Follow up with companies that remain in the Invited section after several days.
- If you use the Health & Value Assessment as part of your sales process, send the company invitation after the assessment has been completed to create a smooth transition into onboarding.
Using either invitation method results in the same outcome—a connected company instance that appears in your firm’s portfolio and is ready for advisor engagement.
