Propel Your Business provides multiple layers of control, but it’s important to remember one key fact: Propel does not store documents.
Any file pinned in the software is only a reference. The document itself still lives wherever it was originally stored — like Google Drive, SharePoint, or Dropbox. That means you’ll always need to share it in that system as well. Propel simply organizes and validates access around your meetings.
Here’s how access works inside Propel:
1. Sharing with Individuals #
When you create or edit a resource, you can assign:
- Editors — who can edit the resource in Propel
- Viewers — who can only view it in Propel
These roles apply inside Propel only. If someone doesn’t have the right permissions where the document is stored, they still won’t be able to open it until you grant them access in the original system.
2. Sharing through Meeting Series #
A resource can also be pinned to a meeting series.
When you do this, Propel automatically validates who is in that meeting series and extends sharing to them. This creates a second layer of access control and helps ensure that the right participants have visibility.
3. Validation & Security #
Whenever a resource is pinned, Propel will prompt you to confirm whether you want to grant access to the people in that series. This makes it clear exactly who will be able to see the resource.
Summary:
- Propel doesn’t store your documents — it organizes them.
- Assign Editors and Viewers when you add resources.
- Always share the document in its original storage platform too.
- Pinning to a meeting series automatically validates and confirms access for participants.
That way, you stay in control while keeping resources secure and organized.
