Unable to Share an Initiative or Roadmap Item #

If you’re unable to assign, share, or select an individual when creating or editing an initiative or roadmap item, the most common reason is that the user is not active in Propel.

Verify the User Is Active #

When sharing an initiative or assigning a roadmap item, only active users will appear in the user selection lists.

If you cannot find the individual in the dropdown menu:

  1. Navigate to Company Settings.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Locate the individual in the user list.

The user’s status will display as either:

  • Active – The user can be assigned initiatives, roadmap items, tasks, and other work within Propel.
  • Inactive – The user will not appear in assignment or sharing lists.

Activating a User #

If the user appears in the list but is marked as inactive:

  1. Click the three dots next to their name.
  2. Select Edit User.
  3. Change their status to Active.
  4. Save your changes.

Once activated, the user will immediately become available in assignment and sharing dropdowns throughout the platform.

User Not Found #

If the individual does not appear in the Users list at all, they have not yet been added to the company instance.

To add a new user:

  1. Navigate to Company Settings.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Click Add User.
  4. Complete the user’s information and activate the account.

For detailed instructions, refer to the Adding Users tutorial in the Support Desk.

Best Practice #

Before assigning initiatives, roadmap items, or tasks, confirm that all team members who will participate are active users in Propel. This ensures they can receive assignments, notifications, and access the work associated with them.
