Why can’t I edit a Goal or Scorecard?

Why You Can’t Edit a Goal #

If you’re unable to edit a goal inside Propel Your Business, it’s usually due to permissions—not a system issue.

Root Cause #

You have view-only access to the goal.

In Propel, access is controlled by roles:

  • Owner → Full control
  • Editor → Can make changes
  • Viewer → Can only see the goal

How to Check Your Access #

  1. Open the goal
  2. Look at the Access section
  3. Review:
    • Owner
    • Editors
    • Viewers

Key Indicator #

If you do not see the three dots next to a goal:

You do not have edit permissions.

How to Fix It #

To gain edit access:

  1. Identify the goal owner (listed in Access)
  2. Reach out and request:
    • Editor access (recommended), or
    • Ownership transfer (if appropriate)

What the Owner Needs to Do #

The owner can:

  1. Click Edit on the goal
  2. Add you under Editors
  3. Save changes
