Custom Portfolio Fields

2 min read

Portfolio Dashboard Customization #

Within Propel, firm users have the ability to customize the Portfolio Dashboard to better match the way they manage and view companies.

The portfolio dashboard supports:

  • customizable columns
  • personalized layouts
  • custom company fields
  • and configurable visibility settings.

Customizing Portfolio Columns #

Each column on the Portfolio Dashboard can be:

  • shown or hidden
  • reordered
  • or reset back to the default layout.

Users can:

  • choose which information they want visible
  • organize columns in the order most useful to them
  • and create a cleaner working view.

Firm users can customize:

  • the visibility of columns
  • and the order in which they appear.

Firm Admin Controls #

Only Firm Admins can configure:

  • default column settings
  • core company fields
  • and custom company fields.

To manage these settings:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Companies
  3. Open the configuration tool in the top right-hand corner

Inside Company Configuration, Firm Admins can:

  • activate or deactivate default company fields
  • create custom fields
  • configure required fields
  • and determine which columns appear by default across the firm.

Core Company Fields #

Core company fields are standard fields available across the platform.

Firm Admins can:

  • activate or deactivate these fields
  • and decide whether they appear across firm portfolios.

These fields become available to all firm users once enabled.

Custom Company Fields #

Firm Admins can create up to:

  • five custom company fields.

When adding a custom field, admins can define:

  • field type
  • active/inactive status
  • field name
  • supporting instructional text
  • and whether the field is required.

These custom fields appear across:

  • all portfolios
  • and for all firm users.

Portfolio Visibility & User Personalization #

Once the Firm Admin establishes:

  • default columns
  • core fields
  • and custom fields

…individual firm users can still personalize:

  • which columns they want visible
  • and the order in which those columns appear.

This creates:

  • standardized firm-wide data structures
  • while still allowing user-level flexibility.

Billing Metrics & Hidden Columns #

Firm Admins also control:

  • whether billing metrics appear
  • and which default columns are available firm-wide.

If a default column is removed by the Firm Admin:

  • it will no longer appear as an option for other firm users.
