Archiving Roadmap Items #
When a roadmap item has been completed, it should be archived rather than deleted.
Archiving removes the roadmap item from your active working view while preserving its history, activity, and documentation for future reference.
This helps maintain a complete record of work completed within an initiative.
Why Archive Instead of Delete? #
Archiving allows you to:
- Keep a history of completed work
- Preserve comments, updates, and activity
- Restore items if they need to be revisited
- Maintain visibility into what has been accomplished
Because of this, roadmap items should generally be archived rather than removed.
How to Archive a Roadmap Item #
To archive a roadmap item:
- Navigate to the roadmap item you wish to archive.
- Click the three dots on the right side of the roadmap item.
- Select Archive.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
The roadmap item will be removed from the active roadmap view.
Viewing Archived Roadmap Items #
Archived roadmap items can be accessed at any time using the filters.
To view archived items:
- Open the roadmap item list.
- Use the Status or Active/Archived filter.
- Select Archived.
You will then see all roadmap items that have been archived for that initiative.
Restoring an Archived Roadmap Item #
If additional work needs to be completed or an item was archived by mistake, it can be restored.
To restore a roadmap item:
- Filter the list to show Archived items.
- Locate the roadmap item.
- Open the options menu using the three dots.
- Select Restore or Unarchive.
The roadmap item will return to the active roadmap and can continue to be managed normally.
Best Practice #
Archive roadmap items once they are fully completed rather than leaving them active.
This keeps initiatives organized, reduces clutter, and allows teams to focus on the work that still requires attention while maintaining a complete history of completed actions.
