Firm Settings: Companies

2 min read

Companies #

The Companies section of Firm Settings provides a centralized view of all companies connected to your firm’s platform.

From this area, Firm Admins can monitor company activity, review users, manage company requests, and oversee demo company templates.

Note: This article provides an overview of the Companies dashboard. For instructions on adding companies, inviting companies, or requesting company access, please refer to the related support articles.

Accessing the Companies Dashboard #

Navigate to:

Settings → Companies

The Companies section contains four primary tabs:

  • Companies
  • Company Users
  • Requests
  • Templates

Each tab serves a different purpose in managing your firm’s company portfolio.

Companies Tab #

The Companies tab provides an overview of all companies associated with your firm’s platform.

Here you can view:

  • Active companies
  • Assigned advisors and supervisors
  • Company user counts
  • Seat utilization
  • Billing status
  • Account status
  • Last login activity
  • Company creation dates

You can also use filters to quickly locate specific companies.

Company Information #

Each company record displays key information including:

Company Name #

The name of the company connected to your firm’s platform.

Assigned Advisors #

Displays the advisors or supervisors assigned to the company.

Selecting an assigned advisor allows you to view additional details about that team member.

Company Users #

Shows the number of active users within the company.

Selecting this number opens the list of users associated with that company.

Seat Usage #

Displays the number of user seats being used within the company.

For example:

  • 21 of 25 seats used
  • 4 seats remaining

This helps monitor user capacity and adoption.

Billing Status #

For Enterprise platforms, the dashboard indicates whether a company is billable.

This helps firms understand which companies are generating platform charges.

Note: Firms using a Branded Platform will not see billing information because Propel bills those companies directly.

Account Status #

Displays whether the company account is:

  • Active
  • Inactive

This allows Firm Admins to quickly identify companies that are no longer actively using the platform.

Activity Tracking #

The dashboard also shows:

  • Last login date
  • Company creation date

These metrics help identify engagement levels and adoption across your portfolio.

Company Users Tab #

The Company Users tab provides a roll-up view of users across all companies connected to your platform.

This dashboard allows Firm Admins to:

  • Search company users
  • Filter by company
  • Filter by user status
  • Review account activity
  • Confirm active and inactive users

This view is particularly useful when managing larger portfolios with multiple companies.

Requests Tab #

The Requests tab displays company-sharing requests associated with your firm.

Requests are used when a company needs to be connected to your firm’s platform.

Common examples include:

  • A company transferring from another firm platform
  • A company accepting an invitation to join your portfolio
  • A company granting your firm access to their existing Propel instance

The Requests dashboard allows you to monitor pending, approved, and completed requests.

Requesting Access to a Company

Templates Tab #

Templates are used when creating Demo Companies.

Firm Admins can create and manage reusable company templates that populate demo environments with predefined content.

Templates help:

  • Standardize demonstrations
  • Reduce setup time
  • Create consistent prospect experiences
  • Showcase best-practice examples

Template management is covered in detail within the Demo Company support section.

Enterprise vs. Branded Platforms #

Certain information displayed within the Companies dashboard depends on your platform type.

Enterprise Platforms #

Enterprise firms may see:

  • Available company seats
  • Seat utilization
  • Billable company status

Branded Platforms #

Branded firms typically will not see:

  • Company seat counts
  • Company billing indicators

This is because Propel manages company licensing directly.

Best Practices #

We recommend that Firm Admins regularly review the Companies dashboard to:

✓ Monitor company engagement

✓ Track user adoption

✓ Identify inactive companies

✓ Review seat utilization

✓ Verify advisor assignments

✓ Manage company access requests

Regular review helps ensure your portfolio remains organized and accurately reflects active client relationships.

Permissions #

Only Firm Admins have access to company management functions within the Companies section.

Firm Users may have visibility into assigned companies but cannot manage company settings, requests, or templates unless granted appropriate permissions.
