Understanding Pending Company Status #
The Pending status is used for company instances that have been created but have not yet been activated by the business owner.
Most commonly, pending companies are created after a Health & Value Assessment is completed and a company instance is launched from the assessment.
What Is a Pending Company? #
A pending company is a fully created company instance that is waiting for the business owner to complete activation.
While the company is in Pending status:
- Firm users can access and configure the company.
- Company users cannot be invited.
- The business owner has not yet completed the company setup process.
- The company does not yet appear as an active client.
Activating a Pending Company #
While a company is in Pending status, the business owner can be invited to activate their account.
Once the invitation is accepted and the setup process is completed:
- The company status changes from Pending to Active.
- Company Admins and Company Users can be invited.
- The company becomes fully operational within the platform.
Pending Status Duration #
A company can remain in Pending status for up to 30 days.
If the company has not been activated within that time, the status automatically changes to Inactive.
Reactivating an Inactive Company #
Only Firm Admins can reactivate an inactive company.
To reactivate a company:
- Navigate to Firm Settings.
- Select Companies.
- Locate the inactive company.
- Click the three-dot menu.
- Select Edit Company.
- Change the company status from Inactive to Pending.
- Save your changes.
After the status is updated, you will be prompted to resend the company activation invitation to the business owner.
Once they complete setup, the company will automatically move to Active status.
Reactivation Limits #
If a company is repeatedly moved between Inactive and Pending without being activated, the platform will eventually prevent further status changes.
When this occurs:
- The company remains in Inactive status.
- Additional status changes are disabled.
- A support ticket must be submitted to request that the company be reactivated.
This safeguard helps prevent abandoned or repeatedly recycled company instances from remaining indefinitely in the system.
Best Practices #
- Invite the business owner to activate their company as soon as the company instance has been created.
- Follow up with companies that remain in Pending status for more than a few days.
- Avoid repeatedly moving companies between Pending and Inactive unless there is a clear intention to complete onboarding.
- If a company has become permanently inactive but needs to be used again, reactivate it promptly and resend the activation invitation.
Keeping pending companies moving through the onboarding process helps maintain an accurate portfolio and ensures business owners can begin using Propel without unnecessary delays.
