Plan Module Overview #
The Plan module is where leadership teams define the long-term direction of the business and translate that vision into an actionable strategic plan.
Located directly beneath the Dashboard, the Plan module provides a collaborative workspace for documenting your organization’s vision, setting long-term goals, planning annual priorities, analyzing the business, and tracking improvements in business health and enterprise value.
Each section of the Plan module supports a different part of the annual planning process.
Foundation #
The Foundation tab establishes the core identity of your organization.
Here you can document your:
- Vision
- Mission
- Core Values
These foundational elements serve as the guiding principles behind every strategic decision your organization makes.
Strategy #
The Strategy tab is where long-term planning begins.
This workspace allows your leadership team to develop and refine your strategic direction before finalizing your annual plan.
The Strategy tab includes three key areas:
BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) #
Define the long-term goals your organization is working toward and select the year you intend to achieve them.
You may create one or multiple BHAGs depending on your organization’s vision.
Milestones #
Work backward from your BHAG year to establish the major milestones required along the journey.
Each milestone can include measurable targets that represent the outcomes your business must achieve each year.
During the planning process, this section functions as a collaborative sandbox where goals and targets can evolve before being finalized.
Once your annual goals have been created, milestone targets can be linked directly to those goals.
Priorities #
Priorities represent the strategic initiatives and projects required to achieve your milestones.
Initially, this section is used to capture ideas and organize strategic thinking.
As planning progresses, priorities can be linked to initiatives, assigned estimated completion dates, and expanded into detailed implementation plans within the Initiatives module.
Performance #
The Performance tab provides a high-level view of your company’s performance by connecting directly to your Company Scorecard.
This allows leadership teams to monitor progress toward annual goals without leaving the planning workspace.
Analysis #
The Analysis tab provides a collaborative SWOT Analysis.
Your leadership team can capture and organize:
- Strengths
- Weaknesses
- Opportunities
- Threats
Each participant can contribute ideas, and entries can be reordered to prioritize the factors that are most important during strategic planning.
Health #
If your organization has completed the Health & Value Assessment, the Health tab displays your current Business Health Score.
From this area you can:
- Update your business health assessment.
- Track improvements over time.
- Review the Health Change Log.
- Measure progress as operational improvements are implemented.
This provides a historical view of how your organization has strengthened over time.
Value #
The Value tab displays your organization’s estimated Enterprise Value and allows leadership teams to define a desired future valuation.
Many organizations choose to align this long-term value objective with one of their BHAGs, creating a measurable financial outcome that supports their overall strategic vision.
Whether or not an exit is planned, establishing a target enterprise value helps focus long-term decision-making and value creation.
Built for Strategic Planning #
The Plan module is designed to guide organizations from vision to execution.
Rather than requiring every detail to be finalized immediately, many areas—particularly within the Strategy tab—are intended to function as collaborative planning spaces where ideas can be refined before becoming operational goals and initiatives.
Once your annual planning process is complete, the information captured in the Plan module connects directly to your Goals, Initiatives, Meetings, and other execution tools throughout the Propel platform.
By linking long-term vision with measurable goals and actionable initiatives, the Plan module serves as the strategic foundation for the entire Propel operating system.
