Adding Users to Your Company #

There are two places to add people inside Propel Your Business, but they serve very different purposes.


The Two Ways to Add People #

1. Team Module (Org Chart Only) #

Use this when you want to:

  • Build your org chart
  • Track:
    • Roles
    • Departments
    • Reporting structure
    • Photos

How to Add a Team Member #

  1. Go to Team module
  2. Click Add Team Member
  3. Enter details:
    • Name
    • Role
    • Department
    • Manager
  4. Save

👉 Important:
This does NOT give them access to the software.


2. Company Settings → Users (Actual System Access) #

This is where you:

  • Add users to the platform
  • Assign roles
  • Set permissions
  • Send login invites

How to Add a User (System Access) #

  1. Go to Company Settings
  2. Click Users tab
  3. Click Add User
  4. Enter:
    • Name
    • Email
    • Role (Admin or User)
  5. Set Status

User Roles Explained #

Company Admin #

  • Full access to everything
  • Can:
    • View all data
    • Manage users
    • Control settings

⚠️ Use sparingly (Owner, CFO, COO)


Company User #

  • Limited access based on permissions
  • Most users should be in this category

Activating a User #

When adding a user:

  • Set Status = Active
    • Sends an email invite immediately
    • User sets password and gains access
  • Set Status = Inactive
    • Saves the user without sending an invite
    • Activate later when ready

Important Behavior #

  • Adding a user in Company Settings:
    • ✅ Gives them system access
    • ✅ Automatically adds them to the Team module
  • Adding in Team module only:
    • ❌ Does NOT give system access
