Custom Links #

Custom Links allow firms to add quick-access links to external tools, resources, websites, and systems directly within the Propel platform.

These links can be displayed for firm users, company users, or both, making it easy to access frequently used tools without leaving the platform.

What Are Custom Links? #

Custom Links appear within the platform navigation and provide one-click access to external resources.

Examples include:

  • Billing systems
  • CRM platforms
  • External training portals
  • Playbooks and SOP libraries
  • Knowledge bases
  • Intranets
  • Assessment tools
  • Company websites
  • Shared document repositories

Custom Links help centralize the tools your team uses every day.

Accessing Custom Links #

To manage Custom Links:

Settings → Custom Links

Only Firm Admins can create, edit, or manage Custom Links.

Custom Link Dashboard #

The Custom Link dashboard provides an overview of all configured links.

For each Custom Link, you’ll see:

  • Link name
  • URL destination
  • Firm user visibility
  • Company user visibility
  • Creation date

The dashboard also allows you to quickly edit existing links and review who has access.

Creating a Custom Link #

To create a new Custom Link:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Custom Links
  2. Click Add Custom Link
  3. Enter a name for the link
  4. Add the destination URL
  5. Select an icon
  6. Configure visibility settings
  7. Save the link

Once saved, the Custom Link becomes available to the users and companies you’ve selected.

Custom Link Settings #

Link Name #

Provide a clear and recognizable name.

Examples:

  • Billing Portal
  • Training Center
  • Firm Playbook
  • CRM
  • Knowledge Base

URL #

Enter the complete destination URL for the resource.

Example:

https://yourwebsite.com

Icon #

Choose an icon to help users quickly identify the purpose of the link within the navigation menu.

By default, Custom Links open in a new browser tab.

You may choose to disable this setting if desired.

Controlling Visibility #

One of the most powerful features of Custom Links is visibility control.

You can decide exactly who sees each link.

Firm Visibility #

Enable the link for Firm Users.

Examples:

  • Internal training resources
  • CRM systems
  • Advisor tools
  • Internal playbooks

Company Visibility #

Enable the link for Company Users.

Examples:

  • Client training
  • Support resources
  • Resource libraries
  • Assessment tools

User-Specific Visibility #

Custom Links can also be assigned to specific user profiles.

This allows firms to provide access only to certain individuals or groups.

Company Exclusions #

You can exclude specific companies from viewing a Custom Link.

This is useful when:

  • A resource only applies to certain clients
  • Different service packages require different tools
  • Certain companies should not have access to specific resources

Common Use Cases #

Billing Portal #

Provide quick access to invoices, payment systems, or billing platforms.

Learning & Training #

Link to external training programs that are not hosted within Propel Learning.

Firm Playbooks #

Provide direct access to operational manuals, SOPs, and implementation guides.

CRM Access #

Allow advisors and consultants to quickly launch external CRM platforms.

Resource Libraries #

Link to shared knowledge bases, document repositories, or intranet systems.

Assessments & Tools #

Provide access to business assessments, calculators, surveys, or reporting platforms.

Best Practices #

We recommend using Custom Links to centralize frequently accessed tools and resources.

Best practices include:

✓ Use clear, descriptive names

✓ Choose recognizable icons

✓ Limit visibility to appropriate audiences

✓ Review links periodically to ensure they remain current

✓ Use company exclusions when resources are not universally applicable

✓ Keep the navigation focused on high-value resources

Avoid adding too many links, as excessive navigation options can create confusion for users.

Permissions #

Only Firm Admins can:

  • Create Custom Links
  • Edit Custom Links
  • Remove Custom Links
  • Control visibility settings
  • Manage company exclusions

Firm Users and Company Users can only view links that have been shared with them.
